Training

Several years ago we had the opportunity to observe a gentleman by the name of Dave Seay at the Madison, WI horse fair, and he "woke us up." Later that day we were privileged to chat personally with Dave and was invited to a mustang adoption where he would be working with a young mustang over the course of the day. We attended that clinic and our horse operation and techniques were changed forever. Since then we have been to many clinics, read countless articles, and watched endless videos. There is no end to the new education process.

A few years ago we started training our colts to excel in our chosen discipline: Trail Riding.  We developed a training program with the goal of quickly and efficiently producing a quality, reliable trail horse. Several years ago we offered this program to the horse riding public on a part-time basis.  Over the last ten years we have had the opportunity to expand our horsemanship skills by working with over two hundred colts and "issue" horses.  The real dividend, however, has been the hundreds of people who came to us as customers, and left as friends.  The trail riding fraternity is filled with some of the finest people in the equine industry, and we feel truly blessed to have had the chance to associate with such a great group.

Now, the time has come to take our operation in a bit of a new direction.  We are discontinuing the training of outside horses, opting instead, to bringing in a limited number of top trail prospects of our own choosing with an emphasis on temperament and suitability.  Once they have several months under their girth, have been exposed to as wide array of trail obstacles and situations as Mother Nature chooses to present, AND we feel they are ready to become a true and trusted TRAIL PAL, then, and only then, will we offer them for sale.  We are confident this approach will allow us to provide a service to trail rider's nationwide while at the same time reaping the enjoyment and rewards of watching a young horse nurture and grow into a productive member of the equine world.

Please visit our site and check out the FOR SALE page on a regular basis and see what's developing at the Trail Pal Trail Horse Farm.

This is what a few of our past customers have to say of their purchases and training:

Deb Byers, Stacy, MN wrote, "Tam, here is an update on Jazz.  He is now 16.2 hands.  He is one of the best trail horses we have ever owned.  He does extremely well on the trail and as the pictures show he is just as good in the show ring.  We enjoy riding him everywhere.  We get comments all the time on how beautiful he is, and there is always someone trying to buy him, but he will not be for sale!  We just love him.  Thanks for selling us such a great horse!!!"

Kathy L Babbs-Van Buskirk, CrownPoint, IN wrote, "I met Tam and Steve while searching for a way to "fix" my appaloosa.  I had recently been thrown and had misgivings about "getting back on my horse".  After a couple of trail rides it became apparent that I needed a different horse."

It was my good fortune to meet and ride with Tam and Steve, as they assured me that they could find a horse to fit me.  Tam generously agreed to sell me her mare, Raven.  She had originally planned on keeping Raven for the rest of her life, so I was honored and thrilled at the opportunity to purchase this lovely blue roan.

Raven is well mannered, extremely intelligent, and the perfect trail horse for me.  Raven has restored my confidence so that I can continue doing what I love, trail riding.

Tam and Steve are honest, personable and have the unique ability to match the right horse with the right person.  If it wasn't for their kindness and knowledge, I might have given up.

Dana Toebben, Villa Hills, Ky wrote,"I wanted to thank you so much for selling me   Diaz!  She is absolutely gorgeous, and to top it off, she has such an incredible personality.  We are lucky to have her.  You made our buying experience very positive by being flexible, professional, prepared, honest, and caring.  I know that our filly was loved and cared for before she came to us.  You took care of the details such as sending food with her to help with her transition slowly and healthily to a new d iet.  If anyone you deal with in the future would like to talk with me about my purchase experience, just give them my number.  I would recommend your horses and you to anyone."

Jim Kuipers, Dyer, IN wrote,"I recently purchased a young, four year old trail horse that was trained by Tam and Steve.  I was very resistant to even coming to look at such a young horse.  I wanted an older more experienced trail horse.  After several phone conversations and emails I reluctantly went to ride this young horse.  I was impressed with his ground manners and blown away with his calm-can do attitude out on the trail.  His trail based training allowed him to perform beyond his years.  I look forward to building a long-term relationship with my new trail partner,  Shot of Blue Brandy."

An old horseman friend of mine once told me, "The only difference between a good horse and a bad one is an hour a day for thirty days."

Dave Seay agreed but added, "That hour has to be spent doing the right things and doing them consistently."

At the Trail Pal Trail Horse Farm, we are doing the right things with patience and consistency.  If the time has finally come for you to personally experience the old adage, "There is nothing better for the inside of a man (woman), than the outside of a horse", or maybe it's time to replace old reliable with a new, younger model, then consider The Trail Pal Horse Farm for that purchase.  You won't end up with "just another horse", You'll have a real TRAIL PAL.

You can easily make this a point to YOUR company OR hide it all together.
